About Marjorie
Marjorie Murray is a lecturer in anthropology at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She completed her PhD in Anthropology at UCL with a project that studied Madrid’s cosmology by focusing on genres of material culture of everyday life in the city. Her current research project “Motherhood and early childhood in Chile today: a study of mother-infant dyads from an ethnographic perspective” focuses on the process of becoming a mother in different settings in Chile. She is interested in women’s negotiations and appropriation of current public and private discourses on mothering practices, principally on birth, breastfeeding and childcare.
